Soft Dinner Rolls

Ingredients:

1 packet active dry yeast 🌾
1 ¼ cups warm milk (about 105-110 degrees F) 🥛
⅓ cup granulated sugar 🍬
¼ cup unsalted butter, room temperature (½ stick) 🧈
1 large egg, room temperature 🥚
1 teaspoon kosher salt 🧂
3 ½ – 4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for kneading 🌾
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted 🧈

Instructions:

1️⃣ In a small bowl, add warm milk and sugar, and sprinkle yeast over it. Let the yeast set until foamy, about 5 minutes.

2️⃣ Add the yeast mixture to a large mixing bowl. Then add ¼ cup butter, egg, salt, and 2 cups flour. Beat the mixture on medium speed until the batter is smooth.

3️⃣ Gradually add flour until a soft ball of dough forms. Increase speed on the mixer to medium-high and beat for 2-3 minutes longer. The dough should be tacky but not sticky. If too sticky, add more flour 1 tablespoon at a time.

4️⃣ Lightly grease a large bowl and place the dough in it, turning once to coat. Cover the bowl with a clean dish towel and set in a warm place to rise until doubled in size, about 45-60 minutes.

5️⃣ Punch the dough down gently. Lightly flour a work surface and turn the dough out of the bowl. Knead lightly if necessary.

6️⃣ Let the dough set for a few minutes while you prepare the baking sheets with a silicone mat or by spraying with non-stick cooking spray.

7️⃣ Roll the dough out to a 12×8 inch rectangle, ½ inch thick. Cut the dough into even pieces using a sharp knife to get 24-30 pieces of dough.

8️⃣ Transfer the rolls to prepared baking sheets. Cover with a dish towel and let rise in a warm place until almost doubled in size, about 45-60 minutes.

9️⃣ About 20 minutes before the rising is done, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

🔟 Place the rolls in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
