Cannoli Cups Recipe
Ingredients
For the Cups:
1 package of wonton wrappers
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 tablespoon sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)
For the Filling:
1 cup ricotta cheese (drained if watery)
1 cup mascarpone cheese (or cream cheese for a twist)
1/2 cup powdered sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/3 cup mini chocolate chips
Optional Toppings:
Additional mini chocolate chips
Chopped pistachios
Powdered sugar for dusting
Directions
- Prepare the Cups:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Lightly grease a mini muffin pan.
Brush wonton wrappers with melted butter on both sides and press them into the muffin cups.
Sprinkle with a bit of sugar if desired.
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden and crispy. Let them cool completely.
- Make the Filling:
In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta, mascarpone, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Mix until smooth and creamy.
Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips.
Chill the filling in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes for best results.
- Assemble:
When ready to serve, spoon or pipe the filling into each wonton cup.
Top with extra mini chocolate chips, chopped pistachios, or a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.
- Serve:
Enjoy immediately to keep the cups crispy, or assemble right before serving.
Tips
For a crunchier filling, you can add some crushed cannoli shells or extra chocolate chips.
Make sure to drain the ricotta well so the filling is smooth and not watery.
