Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
- Fresh thyme (for garnish)
Directions:
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Form into meatballs.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides. Remove meatballs and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
- Pour in the beef broth and return the meatballs to the skillet. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
- Sprinkle shredded Gruyere cheese over the meatballs and let it melt.
- Garnish with fresh thyme before serving.
